Tea Party in DC

We are visiting with our eldest granddaughter here in DC where she has an internship with Sojourners magazine. We have visited congress and been in the gallery thanks to my third cousin Dr. Phil Roe from Tennessee. We toured the Library of Congress and walked Arlington Cemetery paying our respects to the ‘unknown’ where just watching the changing of the guard is emotionally charged.

CIMG2394Today we slept in after a very long day yesterday and walked down Pennsylvania Ave. by the White House, on over to the DAR and stumbled onto the 25,000 Tea Baggers.. we didn’t know where they were gathering. How fun is that!!

Great enthusiasm and pleasant crowd. Speakers were good and tons of flags flying, Old Glory as well as yellow Gadsden ‘don’t tread on me’. A peaceful rally of that many is sure to be ignored by the news media!!

Tacos and salsa

Today we made shrimp tacos for breakfast with our own homemade salsa AND quacamole… delicious. On our last day in Mazatlan Juan took us by his very favorite shrimp taco stand. We enjoyed the best tacos. Today we replicated them with large shrimp and you could hear us hummm and ohhhing as we devoured them.

Tomorrow after church we will be serving with others from our Bible study at homes of those who can’t get out any longer. It’s always nice to reach out to others.
