2 From Ma and Pa to King and Queen
2 From Ma and Pa to King and Queen
We felt so royal and were treated so lovely. Brenda comes to us with a tray of warm wash cloths to cleanse our hands and refresh our faces. Ahhh. Surveying our surroundings of blue we discover we are supplied with puffy pillows, a little bag with slippers, sox, toothpaste and a toothbrush. The beige quilt is lightweight and silky. Such a difference from the fuzzy dark blue flight blanket we are used to. We relaxed back in the seats by pushing various buttons on the console and then watched every movie and tv program that was available… Ron the war and fighting type and I the others!
Robb hands a ‘menu’ to us and asks for us to choose our entree. “Entree?” Oh, my he speaks French! Our meals were served with three knives, two forks and one large spoon wrapped with a white cloth napkin… now isn’t that special!! Delicious meals and desserts to die for. What’s fun is that Robb and Brenda seem to share our excitement for the upgrade.
Thank you Capt. Joe, Brenda and Robb. We’ll be flying and recommending Delta from now on.
We flew for 11 ½ hours to Tokyo, Japan. After our change of planes we seemed to be the only non-Asians flying to Bangkok. The plane was packed and we were in coach. We were still living our first class experience and realized we were first class passengers no matter where we were sitting.

Out come our peanuts, books and blow up pillows. Dinner was served in little plastic trays heat sealed with plastic wrap. Such lovely memories to dream of on the next seven hour trek. If we’re not seated in first class we are still first class!
Landing in Bangkok Thailand about midnight wasn’t exactly what we expected. We had made our hotel reservations through Expedia. The hotel was to be close to the airport so we could get there in as little time that night and the next morning. Turns out it was to be a 45 minute mini bus ride and cost $75 USD round trip. The hotel was only $45 USD!!
We scrapped that plan and stayed at a hotel very close. Now we need to deal with the miscommunication of the first reservation.
We boarded our plane in Portland on Wednesday at noon and we’re off to Chiang Mai Friday noon. A long time of travel. The sleep was well worth it as we are rested but not sure of our jet lag yet.
Judy was waiting for us at Chiang Mai airport about 2:00 Friday afternoon.
