Home…. Chiang Mai Thailand is calling

1.We are home now after our fabulous cross country journey. We were gone 2 ½ months and we could have gone longer. We so enjoyed reconnecting with old friends and relatives. We were blessed with new friends along the way as well. Our little cabin on wheels has provided us comfort and security from the elements and wild life.
My ‘office’ in the back seat of our van has been such fun and has given me opportunity to read, write and knit. Not so much knitting! But I have made 4 baby caps for preemies at a hospital. Thanks to Alice for the idea and encouragement as well as from cousin Betsy as she does the same thing. Texas to Montana.

I’ve read some very interesting books. Infidel was most fascinating. The Children’s Blizzard in 1888 when South Dakota had many die, very sad.  The Battle of the Big Hole telling the story of the Nez Perce War, one by my friend Bonnie Grove is ‘tender and quirkly’. Talking to the Dead. Willa Cather’s Death of the Archbishop we traded off as it was a good read each of us enjoyed.

So besides all the tour info and of course keeping us on track as navigator I was a busy reader cloistered away from all the ‘must do’s’ of home.  Ron is a ‘professional driver’ so he prefers quiet. You know what that means for me? This set up was worked out by Ron my engineer of the practical. “Thanks Honey for such thoughtfulness.”

If you’d like to ‘hear’ some of our experiences and learn some interesting things as we did, read away. (I think there are now 34 entries) I’ll be putting up several YouTube videos that will include some recipes besides buffalo in rut, Old Faithful doing it’s thing, tour of Livingston, Montana aboard the Yellow touring bus, tour with our Crow guide of Little Big Horn battlefield, amidst a rainy lighting storm, Mt. Rushmore, the Bad Lands, Organic Milk by the dairyman, and more.
God bless you, hoping your summer brought good memories for you

2.The latest is that we will be leaving soon for Thailand next Wednesday the 4th of November. Just last week we were talking with our friend who are serving in Chiang Mai, Thailand building a large home for children saved from the sex slave industry. They have twelve girls now and the need is so great that our friends are there building a larger home, for 125. They would like to have a garden and livestock as well so we are available to help in this cause. Our experience in Grass Valley should come be of use. Interesting isn’t it how our past experiences can be used by God for others. We will be gone six weeks returning Dec. 15.

We’ll celebrate Thanksgiving and our 50th anniversary while away.

We would appreciate your prayer as we find our way to go. The 19 hour trip will be long but well worth it. We’d like to be going first class but you can’t have everything!!

God bless you, Peggy and Ron
