30 Returning to der Faderlund

Silos and barns dot the landscape as we enter verdant Wisconsin. The barns up north differ in the roof shapes. Beautiful tips at the top swoop out and down in an artistic way to shape the roof, almost like shaping a woman! Some silos are made of gray stone with fancy red brick trim around the tops others have blue diamonds around the top.

We are here with our good friends Gary and Linda who is a writing pal and a great encourager. They built their beautiful home here of brick and when visiting us a few years ago Gary, Chad and Andrea got on their hands and knees to lay used brick, that we’d scavenged from Matt’s place, for our outdoor patio. What a difference it makes to have experts do brick work. We are thankful each time we step out our back door. The grapes that we have planted and the arbor Ron has built over it will soon be ready for harvest. Just what we pictured when they did the brick. Beautiful.

Ron is rounding up Roloff relations so hopefully he’ll have a new connection soon. We are going to cousin Jeanette and Jim’s tomorrow afternoon. They are such special relations and friends even though pretty far down the line. We have come to visit several times and they once when we lived in California.

Today is a kick back day that we may end with a bon fire roasting marshmallows. Linda is baking  a loaf of bread with all sorts of goodies and seeds. Yummmm can’t smell it yet but soon and very soon.

We’ve been eating meals out on the porch which is in the woods where they built their home. The coy in the pond are beautiful.. they must have a hundred!! Lilly has barked at the lilly pads that move when the fish are under.. it’s really quite funny.
