One week today!!!
It is one week today that I entered the hospital limping and dragging my left leg in pain… today I’m doing so much better and the pain is the bruising rather than the joint stuff.
Ron has left me today to return to work. He helps older women by taking then on outings from the care facilities … WAIT isn’t that what he was doing for me?? hee hee. He set me up this morning with my pills for the day and left about 6:30. I was able to sleep in until 8:30 and then got up, brushed my teeth, got dressed with the help of my fancy stick… imagine a stick helping you get dressed. I walked into the kitchen and even fixed my own oatmeal with apple. I just can’t bend over so anything below my knees is off limits. Sounds easy until you need something from a lower cabinet… I’ve figured a way… stick my ‘bad’ leg out in back and take a ballet stance. Like a swan dive!!
I’ve had a head ache all day which isn’t good. I don’t usually have headaches so this has been bad. I’ve tried to sleep as much as possible and drink tons of water but still the throbbing persists. It’s not as bad now as perhaps the ice pack and then the head from my ‘bean bag’ have helped. I spoke with the doctor and the anesthesiologist as to whether it may be from the spinal and it probably isn’t as it’s been 6 days and is not ‘positional’.
Several friends have called and come by today which has certainly helped the day to pass. Darla brought a lovely SubWay sandwich and visited for awhile. My stomach was just quesy enough that nothing sounded very good but a good fresh sandwich was perfect. Heather and Issa came again and we had tea together this afternoon. Just what I needed!
Ron is going to be home rather late (about 7:30 or 8 ) so i’m trying to get used to it. Don’t like it, but I’ll behave myself. Lilly is a good pal.

Glad to hear you are doing well one week from your surgery. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday with your family.
Sorry Ron comes home so late. I am sure the older woman really look forward to their outings (even if it is a doctor’s appointment) if Ron is taking them. If I were old and needed transportation, I think Ron would be just the type of person I would want to cart me around.
